We're On the Ground in Malawi, Africa

Hope For A Life is building churches, schools, orphanages, and entire communities in Malawi.

Today, we're hardest at work in Katstukunyu ("Hope Town") in the north part of Lilongwe.

Our Mission

Hope For A Life is a ministry of US individuals, churches, businesses, educational institutions, and other groups dedicated to helping the impoverished and abandoned children of Malawi.

Founded on the legacy built by the Clyde F. Green Foundation, Hope For A Life was established and is led by Timothy Green, Sr., to expand on Clyde's mission of bringing hope to the hopeless.

Our ministry in Malawi is devoted to rescuing the many homeless and parent-less children in the region by creating villages known as  "Hope Towns"  with clean water, orphanages, schools, and churches where they can physically and spiritually flourish, and go on to help others.

Our Malawi ministry is located in the capital city of Lilongwe, which has a population of 1,222,000.  Lilongwe is well known for its high cost of living.  It is a business town.   Most people in Lilongwe speak the mother tongue language called Chichewa.  Very few of the people who live there speak English, as the majority of the population does not have access to education.

Our Malawi ministry is accomplishing many good works with the help of our supporters.  As of today, four bible-teaching churches have been planted throughout the region:  Rise Bible Baptist, Shine Baptist Church, Light Bible Baptist Church, and Life Bible Baptist Church. These churches are a beacon of hope to the many spiritually and materially impoverished people of the area.

There are over 1,000,000 orphans in  Malawi, many abandoned by parents due to illness.  Left to fend for the most basic of needs, these children lack everything: shelter, clean water, food, clothing, and medical care.  Most will never receive any form of education.

Our team has risen to the need by acquiring the land to build a town of hope; the village of Katuskunya, where a school has been established and an orphanage is now underway. These are big tasks, and we need help.

A 30-MINUTE DRIVE FROM THE CENTER of Lilongwe lies the "Hope Town" village, Katsukunyu. Our team has been on the ground here since 2020, developing the village infrastructure and feeding and educating hundreds of children daily. Seated on 3 acres, the ministry has built the following vital community essentials:

Well and Water Tanks:

One of the first construction projects was drilling a well for clean water to support the village and people in the surrounding areas. The well is 600 meters deep and our ministry has also erected two water tanks, one can contain 5,000 litres and another 3,000 liters.

The lack of access to clean water is a severe problem for many Malawians, contributing to disease and other hardships, particularly children who must walk many miles for water each day.  Because our well supports both the village, which is growing, and the community at large, a second well will be required soon.

Feeding Center/Kitchen:

The feeding center building accommodates 600 children, equipped with a basic kitchen to create and serve nutritious meals to hungry children who would have nothing to eat otherwise.

Like the well, the feeding center serves those in need outside of the village as well as those who reside within, ensuring that up to 600 children of the community will have at least one meal of the day.  Like other structures in the village, the building has multiple purposes and uses. The same building is used on Sundays to worship God.

School:

Built with love and compassion, the property also now has two classroom buildings.

Teachers and teaching supplies are growing needs for the school.

As you see above, the school is in great need of materials to build desks. Funding for books,

backpacks and school supplies are ongoing needs.

Light Bible Baptist Church, Kamulembo

4.JPG

KAMULEMBO IS A VILLAGE 45 KILOMETERS FROM THE CENTER OF LILONGWE.  Light Baptist Church is located on a small piece of land in an area surrounded by a cult that threatens the population. The church has been working hard to win hearts for Christ since it was established and now has a faithful membership of 76 people.

Many people around this area believe in Nyau, the Chewan name for mask.  Nyau is a secret society and a cult.  Nyau masked dancers are men who dress in torn clothes and masks, and sleep in graveyards. They are believed to be spirits of the dead. As demonic spirits, they use masquerades so they may act with impunity; there have been attacks and deaths during their rituals and "performances" in the past.

The church does not have a water well and lacks many material resources. It needs prayer and funds to expand its presence and continue to be a Light of Hope for people in the area.

Shine Bible Baptist Church, Dowa

DOWA IS A MOUNTAINOUS TOWN LOCATED IN THE CENTRAL REGION OF MALAWI, NORTH OF LILONGWE. The population of Dowa is about 879,386.  Shine Bible Baptist Church is situated on three hectors (30,000 square meters) of land, which also contains a borehole well approximately 55 meters deep. The well provides fresh water for 12 large villages in the surrounding area. Prior to the construction of the well located at Shine Bible Baptist Church, people had to fetch water along the mountains in small streams.

The property has sufficient land for farming, and our ministry plants maize every year to help feed the orphans in Katuskunyu.  Shine Bible Baptist Church is also blessed with a playground used to conduct a soccer ministry, as an outreach to the children in neighboring villages.

Life Bible Baptist Church, Dowa

Also located in Dowa town. Life Bible Baptist Church accommodates about 300 people. It is seated on the 3 Acres of land, with an active well about 60 meters deep and a 5,000 water tank. The property also contains a small, two-bedroom house for the pastors.
